Healthcare Protests - Stop The Madness!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have had enough.
The images and sounds
emanating from Washington D.C. on November 5, 2009 from the steps of the Capitol Building, were just sickening.
What in the world were the Republicans thinking when a sign was used the with words "National Socialist Health Care, Dachau, Poland - 1945" superimposed over a picture of a mound of corpses of people who were killed in that concentration camp? What in the hell do they think they are doing? Equating healthcare reform in 2009 with the Holocaust? Simply mind numbing, there is no excuse for this. Two of the many speakers at the "press conference"? Rep.Michelle( Out of touch with reality)Bachmann of Minnesota and Rep.John (I love the healthcare industry) Boehner of Ohio.
It is time for any and all legislators to stop prostituting themselves for the healthcare industry. Elected members of Congress are supposed to carry out the will of the people that they represent, not their personal agendas. If Bachmann or Boehner had something intelligent to say, they should have denounced the "Socialist Health Care" sign. They did not, so they are willing accomplices in this travesty. Bachmann thinks "A revolution every now and then is a good thing"? Had this been said during the administration of G.W. Bush, that person would have been locked away under the pretense of "national security." By the way, when Boehner can tell the difference between the Constitution and the Preamble of the Declaration of Independence, he should issue a press release proclaiming his knowledge of American history.
To the idiots that attend rallies, tea bag parties or "press conferences" screaming " I want government out of my healthcare", do us a favor: get rid of your Medicare or don't accept it when your turn comes to utilize it.
It is one thing to protest policy. It is another to rally with that disgusting Dachau sign and signs with racist depictions of President Obama. This is the indication of the subtle statements that are being made by some of our fellow citizens - the Republicans do not control the White House, and there are those that have a problem with a African American Commander in Chief. There, I said it! The Republicans are the party of non inclusion of non white peoples (Black, Latino and Asian, to name a few) and they don't like different looking people making national policy.
Did I hear someone say Michael Steele? The man who doesn't like the healthcare proposals put forth by Democrats, but did not know what healthcare plan he belonged to? Just the man to lead the Republican Party!
Intelligent discourse has gone out of the window. We have returned to the good old days of scare tactics and the politics of fear.
Were there instances where Democratic congressmen went on television to invite people to join mass protests against the Iraq War, holding signs of G.W. Bush with a "Hitler" mustache drawn on them? I think not. Obama - Hitler and healthcare reform - Holocaust comparisons are disgusting, revolting - and racist. To the Republicans and any other lawmaker employing these repulsive tactics, do everyone a favor, resign and become what you truly are - healthcare lobbyists.
To the people who willingly go along with these repulsive tactics and actively participate in these protests - go to your nearest department store and buy a clue - there is no one in government that wants to kill your grandparents and the "socialist" government has been helping the elderly (yes, your grandparents) by providing Medicare for decades.
America needs healthcare reform, and we need it now! End the lunacy, and let us have all parties with legitimate concerns come to the table and hammer this out. All Americans must benefit from this effort, not the politicians and the healthcare companies who are obviously in bed with one another. Enough said.
Until next time (you know there will be).

I hope people can see through the scaremongering lies and look at healthcare reform in a sensible manner. There are doubtless areas of the reform plans that could be improved.... so people need to look at the genuine issues rather than made-up ones if they want to see a genuine improvement in healthcare and access to healthcare. Thanks for writing!Hi Ben,As I said during the 2008 elections here in the U.S., there are those that will attempt to use fear to advance their agendas. I don't agree with everything I hear when it comes to healthcare reform, but to scare people with "death camps for grandma" to get them to go along with this insanity is stupid, plain and simple. Bring real ideas to the table and get this done!Ben, thanks for reading and commenting.JD
JD, it seems that you are really frustrated. A lot of people are frustrated. It seems that neither party is happy when the other protests. Protests are just a part of our political system. If you do not agree, you do not have to participate.Hi Deana,You are right, I am frustrated. We have to make sure that you know what I am frustrated with. There is nothing wrong with protesting, it is part of the freedoms that all Americans enjoy as being citizens of this great nation. Deana, tell me that you condone the use of the sign that I described in my article ( a picture of the dead bodies of Dachau concentration camp victims). So protesting should involve comparing healthcare reform to the Holocaust? Think we can come up with a better analogy than that? No, I don't agree with the use of that picture. It was simply revolting. If Rep. Boehner wants to stand up and look like a fool by not knowing the difference between the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence in front of thousands of people, that his business. If you agree with the protesters, good for you and congratulations on your participation. Sickening images and racist pictures simply show the depths to which some are willing to sink to get their way. Gathering in front of the Capitol Building and yelling to the top of one's lungs about displeasure with healthcare reform- nothing wrong with that.I hope you are not willing to sink to the lowest lows to push this anti reform agenda through. I will say it again; healthcare reform is not the Holocaust, and I defy anyone to show me in writing where the government wants to kill anyone's grandparents - in writing please.I am frustrated by the win at all costs agenda of the GOP. Would it not be more constructive to sit down with ideas and not simply say" we are against reform"?Thanks for reading and commenting.JDAmen JD! Ever since the Republicans publicly stated that health care will be our great populist president Obama's Waterloo, they have gone a little wonky. We might be seeing the death throws of the Republican right wing movement, although I hope they keep it up. Rush Limbaugh and his fellow publicity seekers certainly helped Obama get elected! I hope that he and Palin are still around for the next election. Maybe the Republican's underestimate the innate intelligence of the the common, middle class folk.
Metta (loving kindness)...............eHi E.R.R,I am happy to see that it's not just me that has realized the GOP is doing their best to derail reform. Oh, the GOP did come up with something. They would like to loosen regulations on private insurance companies, which would allow people with insurance to save as much as 10 percent. That would not make a difference to those without insurance. Great plan! It does seem that the GOP has underestimated the middle class. If Oxycontin Limbaugh keeps talking, the GOP might go right into the toilet. He should take Bachmann and Boehner with him. There will be a host of unemployed politicians should this pass, the healthcare industry will cut their ties to them.E.R.R., thanks for reading and commenting.JD
Judge,Well written article but you are mistaken about the liberals comparing George W. to Hitler. Not only will you find a video on YouTube called Liberals comparing Bush to Hitler, but if you research a little further you will see the exCNN reporter, Susan Roesgen, talking about the Katrina disaster with a cartoon picture of Bush with a 'Hitler' face. Wonder why she no longer works at CNN?Hi Nancy,You are right, and thanks for pointing that out. Thanks for reading and commenting, and I apologize for the delay in my response.JD
Great article. Well done.I just don't understand why anyone would not want free health care. I agree that some people are being silly.Hi Connor,Thank you for reading and commenting, and I wish to apologize for the delay in my response.JD
