Governor Mark Sanford - Should He Resign?

Hello again.

Governor Mark Sanford - the distinguished chief executive of the great state of South Carolina.

The governor seems to have a slight problem - being caught with his "pants down." There are not many of us that would want to be in his shoes at this moment.

The affair that he has admitted to - would the issue be best served by being dealt with out of the public eye? Of course it would!

However, I would like everyone to take a trip in the way back machine with me. Let's open the door in the year 1998, when Sanford was a member of the House of Representatives. If memory serves me correctly, he was a vocal critic of President Clinton during the Lewinsky scandal. One of his quotes was "I think it would be much better for the country and him personally (Clinton) if he resigns."

Does that quote apply in 2009? Personally, what people do behind closed doors( with consent) is their business. Hey Governor Sanford, guess what? It does not matter what your party affiliation is, if you are a self serving (married) blow hard that lives in a glass house, you should have been careful when throwing the stones of resignation due to an affair. Those same stones have now brought your glass house crashing down around you.

Governor, you have talked the talk - now it is time to walk the walk. Do the people of South Carolina a great service and resign. Resign now. Without delay. If Clinton was a philandering liar, what does that make you? At least Clinton did not leave his car at the airport under a web of deception. Did you forget about surveillance cameras? Time to go Mark, and not a moment too soon. Don't let the doorknob hit you on the way out.

P.S. You should have taken the stimulus money !

Until next time

This was a beautiful article. I do not wish to become Biblical, however, it does say: "Take heed ye stand, lest ye fall." Beautiful article.

Hello Dr. Rucker,

Thank you for reading and commenting on the article. By the way, in this instance, going Biblical is just fine and very appropriate !

It's not really Mark's fault. He's just following the example of one of the greatest Presidents of our time. Can you blame him?

Hey Anon,

You are right !! Clinton was one of the greatest presidents of our time!! Be that as it may, Sanford took fooling around to a new, never seen before level. Think about it, everyone thinks he's walking a mountain trail to "clear his head", when he was actually in Argentina, doing the twist!

I'm not blaming Sanford for anything, that's up to his wife, family and the residents of South Carolina.
