Presidential Campaign 2008 - Random Thoughts

A couple of thoughts as Campaign 2008 draws to a close:

Then:

Joe the Plumber - A unassuming guy who just "happened" to come upon a Obama walking tour of his neighborhood, while out having a football throw on a Sunday afternoon. Joe asks Obama a question about his proposed tax plan, and how it would affect him when he buys a plumbing business. Within the Obama response is the now famous ( or infamous ) line of "Spreading the wealth around is good for everybody."

The next day, McCain mentions "Joe the Plumber" twenty one times, and Obama four times, during the third Presidential Debate. Joe is then all over the airwaves blaming Obama and the media for destroying his privacy.

Now:

Joe" The Plumber" Wurzelbacher can't seem to stay away from a TV camera. In no particular order, Joe recently has:

1) Attempted to land a book deal

2) Is now thinking of running for Congress from Ohio (at a press conference )

3) Attempted to land a country music record deal.

4) Made appearances on Fox News Channel.

5) Made appearances at McCain - Palin rallies, and answers questions at the end of the events.

Does this sound like a publicity shy, want to remain in the background type of guy? Did Obama destroy his privacy? No to both questions. By the way, did anyone hear Joe agree with the gentleman that stated" A vote for Obama is a vote for the death of Israel." Where did that come from? I smell the McCain campaign making a connection to......

Rashid Khalidi!! Yes, the Israel bashing individual that currently works out of Columbia University in New York City. McCain wants to make a last minute Obama - Khalidi alliance, from a 2003 party that both attended. That's fine John, but tell us why, as the chair of the International Republican Institute, $484,873.00 was given to a Khalidi founded organization, the Center for Palestine Research Studies in 1993? I keep telling you, Senator McCain, if you are going to throw moose chips at the wall, they might bounce back and hit you squarely in the face. Did you forget that you (yep, you had to know about it ) gave this hate monger almost five hundred thousand dollars? Stick to defending your Vice Presidential nominee that you apparently are not thrilled with, for you are not doing well with the negative association games.

Back to Joe for a second. Book deals, rallies, country music deals, Fox News Network appearances, and no more talk of buying a plumbing business. Now McCain says he will take Joe to Washington with him, and that Joe is McCain's "role model". Huh? I guess McCain will continue his habit of bringing overly qualified personnel to his campaign to soothe all of our doubts. Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher, Secretary of State. Can't you just see it, America? Can you smell what McCain is cooking? Unqualified candidate stew. Yummy. Until next time.

Hi JD!

I can not wait until Tuesday is over. I only wish Americans will let God guide them and make the better choice.

Maybe I could land a book deal because of all the experience I don't have. Then you will see me in Congress. NOT!! I wouldn't work there if you promised me the world.

God bless you friend

Great article, JD. Right on the money! No matter how the election comes out, our country is in a heap of trouble that is going to take more than a pipe cleaner and his entrouge to fix.

Thanks.
